Ear Deformity Correction
How it works For ears that stick out, a procedure that takes two to three hours can pull the ears back flatter against the head. In this procedure, Dr. Alexander will reshape or remove some of the cartilage behind the ear and stitch the area back together. Since the incisions are on the back of the ear, they can easily be hidden in the normal creases. Local anesthesia and mild sedatives will be used in this procedure. Dr. Alexander can also correct lopped ears (where the tip of the ear folds downward), or shell ears (where the natural folds and curves along the top of the ear are missing). Earlobes that are too large or are creased can also be corrected. Recovery After surgery the ears will be covered with a dressing and medication will be prescribed for pain and soreness. The dressing will be removed within a couple of days, however, nighttime dressings are usually required for up to two weeks. Consultations Anyone considering facial plastic surgery should take the time to learn as much as possible about the procedures. Ask about a free cosmetic consultation with Dr. Alexander to discuss the procedures that might help you attain the appearance you want. |
