Rhinoplasty
Changes can be dramatic or very subtle. Your goal should be to enhance your nose, not necessarily create a new one. Rhinoplasty may also be performed in conjunction with other procedures such as eyelid surgery or facelifts. How it works Dr. Alexander carefully reshapes the nose from the inside, minimizing or eliminating visible scars. The procedure will take from one to two hours, and will require either general anesthesia or local anesthesia combined with a mild sedative. After the surgery is complete, a splint is placed on the nose to protect it and keep it in position. A nasal pack may be used on the inside of the nose for support, if needed. The nasal packing is usually removed within a couple of days, while the splint may need to remain in place for a week. Recovery Recovery usually takes one to two weeks, with most patients returning to work at the end of the second week. Your face may be puffy and bruised for the first day or so, and pain medication prescribed by Dr. Alexander can help with any discomfort you may have. Bruising begins to fade within a day or two and fades completely within a few weeks. Swelling of the nose can be reduced by keeping your head elevated and using cold compresses. Swelling may not be completely gone for several weeks, however, it is not usually noticable. You may not see the final result of your rhinoplasty for many weeks. Consultations Anyone considering facial plastic surgery should take the time to learn as much as possible about the procedures. Ask about a free cosmetic consultation with Dr. Alexander to discuss the procedures that might help you attain the appearance you want. |
